The Hatta Farming Festival kicked off today at Leem Lake and will run through Jan. 22, featuring 25 Emirati farmers, homesteaders, and local agricultural companies. Held under the Hatta Winter umbrella, the event aims to showcase agricultural products and services, foster collaboration, and support the UAE’s growing agricultural market.
Part of the Hatta Winter festival, it includes a variety of activities for visitors—from pottery and tote bag painting to smoothie making and vegetable carving. Attendees can also learn about modern farming techniques and hear success stories from local farmers and entrepreneurs. Competitions, including public livestock auctions and awards for outstanding farmers, will highlight top agricultural practices. Additionally, there will be live entertainment, including traditional bands, mascot shows, and a light show on the evening of Jan. 20.
Dubai Municipality will provide an agricultural extension platform, offering farmers free guidance and information. Visitors can also access services from the Dubai Smart Mobile Laboratory, which conducts testing for vegetables, fruits, groundwater, and irrigation. A mobile public health service will provide veterinary consultations and Brucella antibody detection for participating farm owners.
The Dubai Municipality has been instrumental in supporting Hatta farmers during the 2024 agricultural season by providing essential resources and training. Farmers received 24,550 bags of organic and chemical fertilizers, 2,440 bags of seeds, and 1,350 light and pheromone traps as part of pest control initiatives.
These efforts have enabled Hatta’s farmers to adopt modern practices, enhance productivity, and support Dubai’s Food Security Strategy. By strengthening local agricultural systems and promoting Hatta’s agricultural identity, the festival underscores Dubai Municipality’s commitment to sustainability and community development.
