Police in Scotland have discovered a second body during their search for two Hungarian sisters who disappeared last month, authorities said Saturday.
The body has yet to be formally identified, but the family of 32-year-old Eliza Huszti has been informed, according to a statement from Police Scotland.
Eliza and her sister Henrietta, who were part of a set of triplets, were last seen walking near the River Dee in Aberdeen around 2 a.m. on January 7, as captured on CCTV footage.
On Friday, police said they had found the first body and notified the family of Henrietta Huszti.
The sisters, who had lived in Scotland for about a decade, shared a home and were known to dress alike. Their third sister, Edit, remained in Hungary. Their family in Hungary reported them missing after losing contact.
Superintendent David Howieson previously said there was no indication of criminal activity but described the sisters’ behavior that night as "very out of character.”
Their brother, Jozsef, told the BBC that the sisters seemed "happy and cheerful” when they spoke to family around New Year’s. He expressed surprise upon learning they had given notice to their landlord, as they had been saving to buy a home.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of death as investigations continue.
