Acting President and Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani administered the oath of office to three new ministers at the President House in Islamabad on Friday, further expanding Pakistan’s federal cabinet.
A notification issued by the Cabinet Division confirmed the appointments and the allocation of portfolios.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed Syed Imran Ahmed Shah as Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection. Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani has taken charge as Minister of Planning and Development, while Dr. Shazra Mansab has been assigned the role of Minister of State for the Ministry of Climate Change.

With these new additions, the federal cabinet now consists of 54 members, including 31 federal ministers, 11 ministers of state, four advisors, and eight special assistants.
The expansion follows last month’s move to increase the cabinet’s size for the first time in nearly a year, when 25 new members were inducted. However, despite prolonged discussions, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), a significant part of the ruling coalition, was not given any positions.
The Cabinet Division also issued notifications for 12 new federal ministers, nine ministers of state, three advisors, and four special assistants in February.
The new federal ministers include Hanif Abbasi, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Mustafa Kamal, Raza Hayat Hiraj, Khalid Magsi, Moin Wattoo, Sardar Yousaf, Aurangzeb Khichi, Rana Mubashir, Junaid Anwar, and Imran Shah. Meanwhile, Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Ali Pervez Malik, already serving in the cabinet, were promoted to federal ministers.
These appointments reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its political position amid economic and governance challenges.
