UAE Warns Against Disrespectful Social Media Posts

The United Arab Emirates has warned its citizens against posting content on social media that disrespects national symbols, public figures, or allied nations.

In a statement quoted by Khaleej timesthe UAE’s National Media Office urged social media users to uphold responsible digital conduct, emphasizing both legal and ethical obligations.

The office warned that violations—including disrespect toward national symbols, public figures, or friendly nations—would result in strict legal action. Users were also cautioned against spreading misinformation, hate speech, or defamation.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed reinforced the message, urging citizens to safeguard the country’s reputation.

“Every action you take, positive or negative, reflects your Emirati identity. We are all responsible for shaping the reputation of this country, as each of us is a guardian of its honor and standing,” he said.

Prohibited content includes insults, profanity, or any offensive language.
